Position Overview

The City of Henderson announces an examination to create an eligibility list and to fill one (1) vacancy for the classification of City Clerk Services Specialist in the City Clerk's Office. The eligibility list may be utilized to fill vacancies for this classification for up to six (6) months or up to one (1) year, depending on employment status. - -

Under general supervision, performs specialized administrative and technical work related to the operation of the Office of the City Clerk; and performs related duties as required.

Please Note: While the current City Clerk Services Specialist vacancy is within Council and Commission Services, the list that is established may be used to fill future vacancies in other areas, such as:
  • Archives and Records
  • City Clerk Operations
  • Passports
Vacancy Information:
  • The standard schedule for this position vacancy is Monday - Thursday, 7:30am - 5:30pm (4 day work week)
The ideal candidate for this position will possess:
- Attention to detail and time management skills
- Experience with taking minutes at meetings or proceedings
- Initiative, sound judgement and adaptability

- - NOTE TO CURRENT EMPLOYEES:
Pursuant to the Teamsters collective bargaining agreement, full-time non-probationary employees successfully completing the assessment process will be placed on an eligibility list to be used to fill vacancies in this classification for up to six (6) months.

The City of Henderson may elect to test probationary full-time, part-time, and temporary employees who meet the minimum qualifications if there are an insufficient number of full-time non-probationary employees who meet the minimum qualifications or successfully pass the assessment process, or if there are a large number of vacancies or anticipated vacancies in the classification. Probationary full-time, part-time, and temporary employees who successfully complete the testing process will be placed on a separate list which may be utilized for up to one (1) year. If the vacancy is not filled by full-time non-probationary employees as outlined in the Teamsters contract, this separate list may be utilized.

Probationary full-time, part-time, and temporary City of Henderson employees will start at the first step of the salary range, if selected.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Graduation from high school or the equivalent
  • Three (3) years of experience performing specialized technical and administrative duties involving direct public contact
  • Note: An equivalent combination of related education, experience, and training may be considered
  • Must be able to pass examination and accept appointment as a Clark County Field Registrar
  • Must qualify for and accept appointment as Passport Application Acceptance Agent
  • Must obtain a bond and Nevada Secretary of State notarial appointment and obtain an appointment as a Notary Public within the first ninety (90) days of employment as condition of continued employment
  • Must complete Security Awareness and National Crime Information Center (NCIC)/Nevada Criminal Justice Information System (NCJIS) certification within six (6) months of hire/transfer and be recertified every year. Must maintain certifications in NCIC/NCJIS as a condition of continued employment
  • Desirable: The ability to communicate fluently in Spanish and/or Tagalog, both verbally and in writing
  • Desirable: Experience working for a local, state, or federal agency
